Sidaction

French association fighting against AIDS / Dîner de la Mode against AIDS : presence and high patronage (2009, 2010, 2011)

Founded to help finance research into HIV/AIDS, Sidaction originated in the early 1990s.  Line Renaud quickly joined the association — which she co-chairs with Pierre Bergé. Just like the Restos du cœur, Sidaction has its anthem. Mobilizing 42 singers of all kinds (from Johnny Hallyday to Catherine Ringer), Sa Raison d’être (by Lionel Florence and Pascal Obispo) helps to raise funds, as does the Fashion Dinner. The seventh edition of this dinner was held on January 29, 2009 in the Pavillon d’Armenonville. Organized with the Fédération française de la couture (the French Federation of Haute Couture), the evening, presided over by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, brought together such personalities as Vanessa Paradis, Julie Depardieu, Sonia Rykiel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. With a participation fee of €850 and a raffle at €300, Sidaction raised €700,000 (compared to €750,000 for the whole of 2008): 50% for research into AIDS and 50% for programs for prevention and care of the sick.
