ModaFusion

NGO / Visit during an official trip to Brazil (december 2008)

Founded by Frenchwoman Nadine Gonzales and Brazilian Andrea Fasanello, Brazilian fair trade company ModaFusion was created in 2005, the year of Brazil in France. This ethical fashion project, using talents from the favelas, soon got people talking about it. From Rio to Paris, fashionistas found out by word of mouth. ModaFusion promotes couturiers and models and also musicians and artists, and has in particular enabled prostitutes from Nordeste to appear on podiums and corners in department stores. The T-shirt and lingerie line Daspu (literally “whore”) gave rise to a line in partnership with French designer Fifi Chachnil. The La Redoute catalogue and the chic Colette store and the Galeries Lafayette have welcomed the designs, seen at the Hyères Fashion Festival, Sao Paulo Fashion Week and Ethical Fashion at the Carrousel du Louvre. On December 23, 2008, her birthday, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy attended a catwalk show for the ModaFusion collection. “Ecologically correct, economically viable, socially just and culturally preserved” is the motto of the sweatshirt brand Andrea Fusion. The same philosophy applies to all ModaFusion lines.
