Figaro (Madame)
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy serves as the 27 March 2010 issue editor in chief
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was the editor in chief of the special edition of Figaro Madame that appeared in newsstands on Saturday 27 March, featuring 90 pages by and about her. They capture her life as France’s First Lady, as the President of the eponymous foundation, as Ambassador for a worthy cause in her role for Global Fund to Fight AIDS and… artist – in a joint interview with Bono, who endorses the same causes with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. A variety of personalities cast light on Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s efforts and thoughts in 2010 in something of a portrait chinois (a string of quick questions and answers). The list includes Global Fund Executive Director Michel Kazatchkine, UNICEF France (one of the main players in grassroots efforts to eradicate AIDS) Chairman Jacques Hintzy, and Julien Civange, the man behind Carla Bruni-Sarkozy’s website, who has also engineered a large-scale awareness campaign to protect mothers and children from the AIDS virus, which will be unfurling in 11 European countries this Spring. This issue also features interviews with a number of the Foundation’s Executive Committee members (Patrice Corre, Marie-Thérèse Geffroy, etc.). There are also interviews with top executives from associations that the Foundation supports, namely Youcef Nabi (Chairman of Lancôme International, which partners the Révélations Lancôme programme), Marianne Blayau (from Orchestre à l’École), and Anne Dunoyer de Segonzac (from L’Enfant@l’Hôpital). Photos from her trip to Benin with Melinda Gates and a series of snapshots from the Palais de Tokyo (a contemporary art museum) add a lighter touch, alongside interviews with “Carla’s” nearest and dearest (plus, of course, an exclusive interview with the lady herself). If you agree that exposure casts light on the causes and commitments that people are trying to advance on the ground, reading this issue is strongly advised.
