Comédie française
France’s national theatre / Attends play with husband (March 2008)
Juste la fin du monde [Just the end of the world] by Jean-Luc Lagarce is a play about incomprehension. A son, who knows he is dying, returns to the countryside to see his parents. A dialogue begins about how incommunicability sets in. Jean-Luc Lagarce, who died in 1995, is the most widely-performed contemporary French author. Like Bernard-Marie-Koltès, he is one of those contemporary authors whose intense use of language rewards constant reexamination. Laurent Stocker, member of the Comédie-Française, wins a Molière for his performance in Juste la fin du monde.
