Clé des Mauges rurales (La)
Literacy association / Supported by the Foundation (2010)
Based in Maine-et-Loire, La Clé des Mauges rurales is an association which runs training workshops for the reacquisition of basic skills (reading, writing, mental arithmetic, self-expression, visual-spatial awareness) for people aged 16 and over. The association prides itself on setting out in search of people throughout the 65 fairly remote communes in the canton of Mauges.
In addition to its literacy workshops, La Clé des Mauges rurales organises cultural outings to regional events: traditional gatherings, film and theatre festivals. In 2010, the Fondation Carla Bruni-Sarkozy funded a number of day-long cultural outings for isolated familes and adults living in the heart of the countryside, including visits to the château de Nantes and some of the city’s historical sights.
