Casip-Cojasor Foundation
Charitable Foundation. Dinner February 2009
The Casip-Cojasor foundation was created in 1999 following the merger of two community mutual societies: Casip was created in 1809, and Cojasor in 1945. On February 3, 2009, the foundation, recognized as being of public interest, celebrated both its 10th and 200th anniversaries at Palais Brongniart, in Paris. The evening event, held by Baron Éric de Rothschild, whose father ran the Casip for 30 years, was chaired by Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. The following were present: Bernadette Chirac, Bertrand Delanoë, the new Grand Rabbi of France Gilles Bernheim, Martin Hirsch, Simone Veil, Jean d’Ormesson and Stéphane Bern. They all responded to the call from Éric de Rothschild, philanthropic banker. Each year, the foundation helps over 20,000 poor in France who survived deportation, are former refugees or who are simply in a precarious position. During the dinner, the President of the French Republic put in a surprise appearance. He was also celebrating his first wedding anniversary.
