First Lady of the United States from 2001 to 2009, Laura Bush (born in 1946, Texas) distinguished herself through her action in favor of education for deprived children through the No Child Is Left Behind program. Indeed, it was during a visit to an elementary school that her husband George W. Bush was told of the 9/11 attacks. Named by Forbes magazine the world’s 43rd most powerful woman, the former schoolteacher visited Ghana and Nigeria in January 2006 to talk about the fight against AIDS just before leading the US delegation at the investiture of Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the first woman to take the reins of an African country. On September 23, 2008 lunch with the First Lady at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
